Both actually, if it makes sense than the two do not have to be mutually exclusive, if one doesn't make sense then we should (or could) accept a change of approach. Not that I think my little rant will cause Canon to reverse the location of the zoom and manual focusing ring of the EF17-40 ! So I guess I will reluctantly have to adapt if I do get this lens.
