Most of the 3rd party lenses rotate the zoom/focus rings=20 the opposite way because that's what Nikon does. Nikon used to be the "de facto" standard back when the independent manufacturers were establishing themselves and they've continued the practice.
Zoom maybe, but as a Nikon shooter since the mid-1970s I can say with certainty that most third party lenses focus "backwards."
