There might be one drawback with that, though I can't
say how significant it would be. I assume the sensor
has a thin glass protector shield and the built-in
filter in front it.
If you remove the filter you allow dust to get closer
to the sensor and thus nearer to being in focus! Also,
the shield (if it exists) might not be hard coated
since it would never have to be cleaned and might
scratch easy. It might also be paper thin. This comes
with a disclaimer of course. I am an incurable
pessimist .
