10D will not behave the same, as it has controls on the body itself, which the 300D 
lacks.

On the other hand, it sounds peculiar to me. I tested 300D with Sigma flash on 2nd 
curtain sync and it worked. I don't remember the shutter speeds, though (and I don't 
have it anymore to try). If you wish, I can test it with D30 and report it back how it 
behaves. 

Maybe someone with 10D can test it and post the results. In any case, I would expect 
that if you set second curtain sync on the flash, that it would stay that way 
(override the body settings) for all the shutter speeds (in X-sync range).
