It notes where the shot # is for the 1Ds and 1D...the post doesn't mention the 10D but I suspect it is there. You could post there and ask or e-mail the software developer.
Well, I downloaded the EXIF tools and looked at some of my JPEGS (hard because I shoot 99% raw) and didn't see anything that looked like it was near enough to be the total frame counter. Oh well.
