I'm going to be making a 'big' purchase of equipment for by 300D and Elan 7 in the near future. Before I spend the money I wanted some opinion on the lenses I'm considering - I'm not looking for reviews, more along the lines of 'I find this one useful, use it a lot' or 'stays in the cupboard'.
I shoot mainly nature stuff - my webpage at www.ursa.ca/photos will give you an idea of the stuff I do. Currently I use an EF-S 18-55, Tamron 70-210f2.8 and Sigma 28-105 most often.
What I'm thinking of getting is:
50mmf1.8 - cheap, optically good, large aperture
105mm macro (likely sigma's, which rates quite high vs. Canon's macro), I'll put the difference in price towards a tripod
Canon 200mmf2.8L or the 70-200f4L lens. If find my 70-210f2.8 to be very heavy and I don't use it too often.
and a Kenko Pro 1.4xTC and maybe a set of extension tubes
Down the road I'd like to get a 300mmf4 and a fast wide angle prime - maybe a 20f1.8 - for street photography.
Does my logic work? am I missing anything?
thanks in advance
david
