I disagree.  The only problems have been with the ECF of the SLRs.
If one has the source code (Tamron) then you use it and have no issue.
But if one attempts to write compatible source code, they can only
write it as it exists and would be unaware of the features (signals) 
that are not yet used.

A similar example.  All the Plug Ins for PhotoShop 7 do not work with
CS.
They were designed for 7. Since the writers of the plug ins had no 
knowledge of what CS required they are not compatible.  You may
say Adobe did this out of spite, but more likely they did it looking to 
improve their own software since that is where the revenue comes from.
