You people were right about one thing with the 28-135. The IS sucks :-) But it is very sharp and a really fun lens to shoot with due to the zoom range and the ergonomics of it.
I don't think anyone said it sucks. Everyone praises the 28-135 for what it does and what it is (a high-grade consumer zoom lens with IS).
I think you'll find the 28-135 a bit too narrow for digital use. That was one of the most frustrating thing to me, along with its darkness, softness, and fragility. You need to pair it with something else, hope you choose a nice 16-45 mm L lens! :-)
