EOS Re: Converting EF-S to EF

Is it fair to assume bodies that take the EF-S lens cannot take regular EF
lenses?  I tried to use an EF-S lens on a regular EOS body and it didn't
fit.
   

I thought that  EF-S lenses wouldn't work on 'any' EOS body but that the 
EF lenses would work on the EF-S bodies.

Ahhhhh,  EF-S lenses.  There goes one of the finer points of the EOS 
system, any lens fits any EOS body.
