If you mind my nosiness, please say so, but now that I've seen the AF is
improved (and since my birthday is next month), how much did you pay with
and without the lens? Just wondering what kind of street price to expect.

Nosiness, or information sharing? <G> No, I don't mind, at all. I'm paying
what I called "the first kid on my block" penalty, so it was $1499 for the
body, $1999 for the kit with the 17-85 IS lens.
I'm a little disappointed that there's still no spot meter (a la EOS5) and
there's the 1.6 crop, but that is apparently the price we pay for staying
under $2k. I was going to hold out for the mythical "EOS3D" but
circumstances dictated that I need a new camera NOW, and my wife finagled
her way into upgrading from her 10D. Anyone in the market for a barely used
10D, late in Sept?
