I ordered a 16x24" print from a 10D photo (shot in JPEG large/fine mode, 100 ISO with a Sigma lens handheld) of the starting 11 from a soccer game as a birthday present for a friend. It came out so well that when I got the players to autograph it, four of them ordered one for themselves. Admittedly these were pro soccer players, not photo connoisseurs, but considering their mugs were on the photo, they must have impressed with how well it came out, too.
