I easily get 300-400 shots out of my 10D with the Canon battery.  Of course
I don't use the built in flash, and, per the instructions, I charge my
battery for at least one hour after the LED charging light goes steady.  I
did try an alternative battery (POLAROID  Canon BP-511 Equivalent) but found
it did not hold a charge as long in non-use, and didn't give me as many
photo with it.  (I originally bought the Polaroid as a backup way back when
I got my first digital, a Canon G-1).
