I'm not a 20D owner (10D and 1D MkII), but since the difference between the BP511 and its 'A' variant is only a small difference in capacity, the effect on the charger of charging a BP511A is something akin to the effect of charging 2 BP511's in a row: that's what they built it for. You won't have any problems with a charger, unless the charger is REALLY crummy, which the Canon charger is not.
I use a Lenmar charger most of the time, but I never even pay attention to what flavor of BP511 I'm charging. I intermix Canon 511's, Canon 511A's, and 3rd party 511 knockoffs of varying capacity, sometimes charging 5 or 6 in a row. Never had a problem, don't expect ever to have one. Suspect you won't have one either.
