Hi all,
this is a bit OT, but still is about canon...
I've an old canonet GIII QL 17.
It uses the mercury-based 625 battery 1.3v that are no more produced.
Some sites, i.e.:

http://www.photoethnography.com/ClassicCameras/index-frameset.html?CanonCanonetGIIIQL17.html~mainFrame

report that "the Canon engineers [..] made the circuitry voltage
compensating"

Anybody knows what does it mean?
If I simply put an alcaline 1.55v battery, it just work out, compensating the
added volts
  OR
I must bring it to a laboratory in order to fix it?

Thank you all,
Danilo.
