the 4gb Hitachi Microdrive looks to be fast too, and that's what I use the most

Have you noticed a drop in battery life compared to a CF ?
Microdrives are supposed to consume significantly higher energy.
Just a data sample. In a recent morning shoot at the Tokyo Central Fish Market, I shot 360 RAW frames on my 4 GIG MicroDrive. It wore the battery out to the 1/3 full mark. This was 2 hours of semi-continuous usage. The lens was a 16-35L f/2.8. I hear the IS lenses also are a big drain on the battery.
