Guys,
In the September issue of EOS Magazine they make the statement about the AF system on the 20D:
"centre AF point is cross-type, enabling autofocusing with a maximum aperture of f8."
Has anyone tried the autofocus with an f8 setup? How does it compare with an EOS 3?

EOS magazine was wrong. AF on the 20D shuts down at apertures smaller than f5.6, just like all of Canon's other non-1 series cameras (except the 3).
If you trick the system by using a 3rd party TC or taping over certain lens contacts (no, I don't know which ones) then the AF appears to work about the same as Canon's other amateur EOS': bright enough light and high enough contrast it works ok; low light or low contrast and it hunts badly.
Bob,
Cheers, that was what I thought.
