I have a problem that may have a simple answer, then again maybe not. I have the Canon 10D. I cannot get the onboard flash to open no matter how hard I press the button on the prism cover area. Is there something I am not doing? Is there something short of disassembly that I can do to get this thing to open the flash?

Ron,

the button to pop up the build-in flash is
to the right of the lens mount ring (when
looking at the front of the body), just
above the lens release button:

Is this the button you are trying to press?

The popup flash will open easily by just
pulling it up gently holding it with a
finger on each side of "prism" area.

I wonder if this might be the old stuck switch problem.

The hotshoe mount for an external flash has switch actuators that used to get stuch causing the camera to think there was an external flash attached. Thw pop up flash doesn't work with an external flash, like a 550EX, attached.
