Hi WJM, If you like gargantuan optics on wheels, why not a Gigapxl camera? Alas, not a digital camera, but no stitching is required. Hence, a vacuum pump is needed to keep the film flat: http://gigapxl.com/ For us mere mortals, stitching is the affordable alternative.
