It's possible to use two 550EXs with some softboxes to work around the power limitations; Chimera make a bracket to hold two Speedlites for use in this manner. This is a pricey combination compared with real studio strobes, but if one already has chosen 550EXs for portability, this setup does a reasonable job for occasional studio use.
