Just count jpg files to find out how many you took.

Not by hand, no.  I have a very small shell script.  It even beeps to
tell me to change the DVD out each time I need too when I'm making a run
of burns.  At my old job we had a robot I could use to do that part
even, and a student employee who would operate the robot for me, so I
had to do virtually nothing.
