For Windows I recommend "Pictures to Exe" http://www.wnsoft.com/ It's shareware but the fully-funtional trial version limits you to 10 slides but lets you get a full tryout before deciding whether its worth the massive $24 ;o) It really is easy to use and gives you all the traditional fades etc of old slideshows together with linking the slides to music clips. All the timings, fades and audio are fully customisable per image.
