In my opinion the major reason for using UV filters is really mechanical
protection, and I feel that the only desadvantage is flare, so you'd better
leave it on and remove it only when you can get some flare...

Excuse my ignorance - do digital cameras need UV/Haze filters. If yes does the filter behave the same way as for film ?


I got a serious degradation of image quality when using inexpensive UV filters on my 20D, which was never a problem before.
