I knew I forgot something in the original note, I'm a Mac OS X user exclusively. Anything in the image recovery software category that fits that bill?

At the site below there is a product called Picture Rescue:

This is one of the better ones. Lexar provides (or provided) free software with some of their cards, but it _only_ works on their cards. Picture Rescue is more versatile.
Search http://www.versiontracker.com/index.shtml for 'rescue' and you'll get some shareware and freeware utilities as well, but I don't know how well they work. I had problems with some shareware programs, so in the end I got Picture Rescue. I only had to use it once, but I'm glad I had it.
Mac OSX user by choice; Windows user under duress (or when it pays _really_ well). :-)
