I am completely disassembling the tripod collar from a
70-200mm f2.8 L (non-IS) lens in order to repaint it.
The tripod thread insert and a small oval door on the
back are held in by extremely small, flat head,
Philips machine screws. They are usable but someone
tried previously to loosen them and the slots are a
little chewed up.

I called Canon and found out that there are NO spare
parts available for this collar. They only sell the
whole collar for $116. The female threaded tripod
socket is a separate insert held in by two of these
tiny screws. This seems like a good idea because it
would then be easy to replace in case a photographer
stripped or cross threaded the tripod socket. If you
can't get a replacement, you're out $116 rather than
maybe $10-$15.

Anyway, can someone recommend where to get tiny metric
screws? I don't even know how I would measure them!
