In a way this isn't that bad, since it would still allow aftermarket 
solutions for deeper IR....and with those at US$350, I doubt Canon 
would be any cheaper (anyone have the side-by-side Japanese price, 
sticker/sticker or market/market?)
Would be a shame if the aftermarket option gets lost, unless 
significant numbers of factory conversions are sold....otherwise the 
chance of ending up with a used one relatively cheap is too small....

Thesis: Canon won't sell them outside Japan, simply to limit their 
hassle/responsability with possible repair, warranty and even 
instruction/help-desk....from that text it doesn't sound like the 
most easy & ergonomic feature....8-))

Let's wait until the feature is perfectionized in the 1Dsa....:))

(the fact that they *only* mentioned & showed astroscopic images 
didn't and doesn't lower my suspicion either....this is stuff for 
gear-freaks, not so much for artists....;))
