Hello Tom, When I mentioned the EOS 3's weather proofing, I was talking in a pro's perspective. It is true that most amateurs won't need that level of weather sealing, but some pros seem to be ready to pay for it, probably because they need it. A $2500 camera would be aimed mainly at the professional market, thus at a consumer with different needs than yours. Also, I was not arguing about the advantages of digital over film. I was thinking of an "EOS 3D vs EOS 20D" basis. In that perspective, the 20D has less features than the 3, I believe. Btw, focusing at f8 is very useful if you use TCs. I know I'm going to miss that feature if I buy a 20D.
