Gerard,

Yesterday I read an artikel fron Chuck Westfall (Canon USA) stating that the 
reach of the 550 EX was greater 
than that of the ST-E2. When you are working on an outside shot, do you notice 
this?
Also was stated that with the 550 EX you can master 3 groups and the ST-E2 2 
groups.

You see, I'm still in doubt what to do :)
Maybe just buy an 580EX and go shooting and see what I miss.
