Hello Dave, > There are 3rd party radio remotes on Ebay for $80. However, the John > Muir Trail is a 20-day hike and kilograms are backaches, are you sure > that you can't just use the self-timer? (or perhaps an available hiker?)
First of all, We will hike just a part of the JMT (Bishop to Whitney Portal/Lone Pine). But there ist still a lot of luggage to be carried. So I try to limit it as much as possible. BTW: I will take with my a little carbon fiber tripod (Gitzo), my EOS 1V, 2.8/70-200 IS and 2.8/16-35. And lots of film, of course :-) I thought to have a radio or IR remote would be a fine idea, but now I think I will stick with my Timer Remote TC-80N3. It is small and light, but maybe less comfortable. Thanks to all for the valuable input. Im still thinking about theses third party radio controls...
