GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/macintosh/) is probably Mr. Bill's best

just like to have something around for the very simple jobs.

such as resizing/cropping/rotating/perspective correction,
watermarks/burning/dodging, USM, adjusting curves, adjusting inp/outp
levels, most filters that are also available with photoshop, layers, and
so much more. I also find the availability of a full fledged community
support (web sites, how to's, FAQs & Help etc.) really saves the day for
me many times.

if there is a MAC version, but even if there was'nt, the source code is
there and can be compiled on that platform, if one has done something like
that before.
