Most of my portrait shooting in 35mm has been done with manual
Minoltas and Voigtlander 90.

Nobody else has mentioned it: I'd take a real good look at the 100mm f2, to me 
the quality of that lens is a lot like the Nikon 105mm f2.5, it has gorgeous 
bokeh and is sharp enough to shave with in the "in focus" DOF range. Its 
perspective is also very flat-tering. (flat-tens big noses! :-)
