Actually, many people have a Fortran compiler on their systems, without
realising it - GCC, used by many Unix systems, compiles fotran. Fortran is
still used, and resources are still available.
By virtue of working in the software field, I also personally know a few Cobol
programmers, and know that they are also available on the net in a manner
similar to Leica photographers.

C is even more strongly entrenched than these languages ever were. Every
operating system (Linux, Unix, Windows, MacOS) and almost every core
application on these systems is written in C/C++.

My suggestion about using C/C++ was a way to delay the inevitable, i.e. loss of
our precious images.

Cheers,
Shashvat
