Hi Brian, 

Cut and put a small, rectangular rubber sheet between the camera and the
flash bracket, and most likely it will not twist again... :-) I use this
combination for Stroboframe Press-T and couple of EOS cameras before.

Good idea, but I would still opt for the anti-twist plates as they are
fairly inexpensive.
