Thanks Bob. I tried the demo version, didn't work the first time around as it kept on hanging on different "spot", I don't know what all the numbers of LBA and Blocks really means. It did however work the second time around and appears to be able to "see" 1,440 files, of which only 7 or so .jpg files appear to be corrupted as the preview images showed banding or random colour strips etc. At the end I did not purchase the software for three reasons: 1. The recovered files have the generic file name RAWnnnn, where the nnnn increments one at a time, note that all of these files were .jpg files from an P&S digital camera, so the original file names is no longer easily visible, the original file name might still be embedded in any Meta info with the file, but I have no way of verifying. The help desk personnel confirms the recovery utility simply finds all the .jpg files on the CD and assigns each a file name. 2. While the original .jpg files were organized in 4 or 5 different folders, the recovered files were randomly sequenced and mixed up, there are no pattern that I can see, this would make re-organizing the files into their original folders a pain, and make re-sequencing the files back into the original chronological orders a REAL pain unless some sort of script file is used to read the Meta data and then to organize it. 3. The BEST reason I didn't buy the software is that I forgot I had a second copy of these files/folders on a separate DVD-R, and the data were completely intact. Something to be said of better lucky than good in this case................., and redundant back-up!
