Uh, 1/4 inch coarse thread has a pitch of 20 thread per inch, 1/4 inch fine thread has 28 thread per inch, the thread commonly used in photography gear is the 1/4-20 coarse. As for the 3/8 thread, it's the coarse also at 16 thread per inch that's commonly used in photography gear.
