I can attest to that. VERY sharp, good color and minimal distortion for a zoom. I heard that some medical testing company bought large numbers of them for some sort of calibration machinery. Doesn't surprise me, the detail in the chromes I got back was eye-popping. I don't recall any corner darkening at wide apertures, but I didn't shoot it wide open that often.
