As far as I know, EOS camera's don't read the length from the DX codes,
but only the film speed. (at least my EOS 5 does)
To read all data, a body has to have 2 rows of contacts, but EOS's (at
least my EOS 5) only have one. (my Sigma SA300 did read all data)
The reason you can't get more than 36 exposures is that the body has a
max of 36 exposures per roll. If you use a 24-exposure roll, you will be
able to get more exposures on it. (depending on the roll ofcourse)
