I have the 10D, my daughter has the 300D - same sensor, same MP. The two bodies are obviously different in weight and feel. The 10D is well suited to someone who likes to be "in control", beginner modes are also available; whereas the 300D has several options either unavailable, or combined as how Canon thinks a beginner will use them.
