Many thanks to all who made suggestions for dealing with downloading and proofing RAW images from the 1D Mark II. These are the products recommended:
BreezeBrowser (and it's downloader program) http://www.breezesys.com iView Media Pro Latest Digital Photo Professional from Canon Camera One IMatch Raw Shooter Essentials & Pro Pixort www.pixort.com I had intended to give each of these a try and post some evaluation, but that doesn't look likely due to too many demands on my time and the fact that when I tried BreezeBrowser it pretty much sucked me in. It's very fast for proofing, makes it easy to sort and rate, and then pop into PhotoShop for the final work. I was able to process more than 400 shots of a soccer game in about 1/10 the time it took me last week. I did try the new DPP and didn't find it helpful. The displays do go faster, but with only 3 ratings, difficulty navigating, and no "pop into PS" ability that I saw it still is more in the way than helpful. If you're using DPP for the crop/adjust/sharpen steps, then it may be better. BTW, I've used ACDSee for years, and like it a lot, but it doesn't handle the RAW files correctly, so it's a non-starter. One more question: is there a "curves" function in PS Elements 3.0, or is that only for CS users? I've never felt like I needed the "big" features of CS since I pretty much just adjust lighting levels, occasionally tweak color, crop and sharpen, but the curves seem like they could be handy for getting some "kick" out of an otherwise dull shot. -- Rich * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
