Absolutely beautiful shots. Wow so clear even with a 2* converter
attached. Loved the expressions you've caught on some of the animal
photos you have. They look they're sniffing out your camera gear.
G'monin' Michael!
Thank you, kindly, for your gracious comments. :-)
Leica's 400/6.8 Telyt is an amazing lens. It's both light and lightning
fast to focus. It's follow-focus design has the front tube running on
three precision chromed rails. You press a button on the side and push
or pull for focus. I've tested myself against a friend with an
autofocus 400-L and I can focus virtually as fast as he can. The only
place the AF lens wins is on moving subjects... such as birds in flight.
I'm just not that good!
There is a slight bit of vignetting when the 2x converter is used, but
it only shows on film. (Their newer, APO 2x converter does not have this
problem.)
Mounted on the 20D, however, it's beyond the sensor area, so the results
are as close to perfect as you might want. :-) Not bad for a lens built
in 1973!
Currently, I think my favourite shot is the bear.

Not because it's a great shot (it isn't), but because he's in the tree.
We all know that bears can climb trees... but its rare to see one in a
tree (heck, they're not common to see, on the ground!) and if we do see
one... it's invariably a cub. Adult bears in trees are very rare.
Decent photos of one are even rarer. I was pleased to get the shot.
Thanks for taking the time to look.
David.
