Henrik:
I have not tried the 1Ds, but Canon's White Paper on the 1D line AF
(published in 2004) and the recent improvements to the MkIIn (covered in
Canon's 2005 White paper) should put the MKIIn's AF capabilities at a
performance level no less than the 1Ds.
Not sure about the1D Mark IIn practical print size limit, but I have
seen poster sized prints from the 1D Mark IIn which were absolutely
stunning. So much so that I didn't feel the need to compromise body build
quality or user features (100% viewfinder, proportionally larger AF coverage
area, ISO adj in viewfinder, much more viewfinder info displayed, Magnify on
Selected AF point during image review, dual Card storage, faster and
adjustable frame rates, superior menu item display, grip, battery life,
etc.) in favor of the 5D's higher res FF chip.
Now going through the process of reviewing all my glass, to see which
I'll keep and which I'll sell to upgrade.
Also if anyone's interested in well pampered A2e and 1n film bodies
(each with respective vert grip/power booster) let me know. They'll be
going up on Recycler.com soon.
