Thank all who have either posted their replies here in the list 
or sent me personal emails.

I was able to get to the list archive and also read through 
bunch of professional as well as user reviews - it turns out 
that most of the opinions on this lens is positive - I also 
checked some photos taken with this lens, it looks great.

So I have put this lens to my short "must get" shopping list 
for Christmas. Appreciated all your help.
