It is functional and that is about all. Wants to bind when you use it with a
flip bracket to get the light up over the lens. Gave me a fit at a wedding
recently- I for one am hoping that canon will upgrade this with the new
camera. I think the main problem is the offset tripod mounting attachment of
the camera itself. Should be in the center of the camera base.

Browsing around on the web I've run across some criticisms of the 20D's
battery grip it and finish, saying it was not very good. Can anyone
corroborate? is the 30D going to use the same grip?
