Not sure, but jpegs are not a fixed size, so the number is an estimate. I doubt the BG-E2 made any difference. Raw count is also an estimate. It may adjust the estimate based on shooting. If you have mostly shot raw, then it may have no history for jpeg. But I'm not even sure if it is that smart.
