I'm still on dial-up (for very good reasons*, I think!), and as soon as I realised that these were big, non-optimised, images, I stopped downloading. (There is a "Save for web" option in many packages.) *Well documented difficulties experienced by others when trying to move from one under-performing broadband ISP to a better one.
