On 10/6/06, [EMAIL PROTECTED], discombobulated, unleashed:
Is there any news in the pipe line about an up grade or replacement for the
1Ds MKII? I have three yrs of hard work on my 1Ds and am thinking it is time
to up grade.
I don't want to buy a MKII only to have a newer unit hit the market in 6
months (as it did when I bought the 1Ds).
Nothing I have heard or seen, but I will put money on the next 1D
incarnation as a blending of the current 1Ds Mk II and the 1D Mk II into
one full-frame 8 fps machine called <drumroll> the 1D.
IMO it's silly to keep a 1.3 sensor going, and as the electronics get
smarter and quicker, I think Canon will consolidate and limit the
flagship to one model.
Or am I barking completely up the wrong tree?
Or am I just barking ? ;-)

That's basically what a guy from Canon said a couple of years ago. 2
basic model lines; one 1.6 crop and one full frame.
Just speculating, but maybe the next 1D high speed will have
something like the 5D sensor so it doesn't have to deal with as much
data fro better throughput, and the next 1Ds version might have a
higher pixel count.
