I use one of those radio remote shutter releases from Ebay: http://tinyurl.com/j2wpv
They say it has a range of 100m, but if it is like mine, then not all functions allow that distance. All other functions would have a range of "only" 50m. My works quite reliable, and you don't need line of sight as you do with IR.
