On 22/8/06, Jane Waters, discombobulated, unleashed: >Clearly, I either p.o.'d all of you with the following request, or you >just think I'm crazy to >even ask the question, but i really would like to know your opinion of >sharing this opportunity >with the group. Bill is a really nice guy, knows his photography, and if >you aren't interested in >his seminars, then perhaps you might know people who ARE interested. Of >course, I realize that >some of you probably do your OWN seminars, and therefore I am stepping >on toes, but somebody in >this group ought to have an opinion regarding my earlier request... > >bill's been doing seminars for 15 years (at least), and really does a >nice job. So, in order to >work with him at a different level of association (instead of being a >participant, I am now >beginning to help him grow the business), I would like a response/ >opinion from you all. > >I really like the intelligence of this group, the knowledge, the humor, >and I look forward every >day to the content of my email box. But, I really would like a response >of some sort... > >somebody? anybody?
That'll be me :-) Had a look at his web site and seems good enough. Yeah, looks great. I'm in the UK so unless he heads this way I would consider it unlikely I would participate. Even then, it would have to be someone I respected photographically, say James Nachtwey, or my hero Jeanloup Sieff (sadly departed this mortal coil). The closest thing I have ever done to attending a seminar is that I went to Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina in 2004, and in fact plan to attend again next year. <http://www.grandfather-mountain.com/> There is an auditorium and visitor centre there and several seminars are held by leading nature photographers, along with beautiful scenery and wildlife habitats. A nature photography competition is held once a year over a weekend at the beginning of June: <http://www.grandfather-mountain.com/planning_your_visit/events/nphoto.php> I hung out with a load of Pentax users <gasp> toting my Canon gear ! There were loads of photogs using all sorts of equipment, some actively pursuing the competition, others just taking it all in and enjoying the talks. I'm not big on nature photography but I found it very rewarding, and met loads of new friends. Anyone on this list ever been? Well I seem to have hijacked your thread, Jane. Oops :-) So in conclusion, I might be interested in a seminar by certain select individuals but unless it was someone I really wanted to listen to, most likely not. His pics are prolific and stunning, he knows his stuff, and I wish him luck. As for advertising it on the EOS list, I personally have no problem with it, although I suspect some would prefer 'OT' in the subject line, unless of course he shoots Canon :-) -- Cheers, Cotty ___/\__ || (O) | People, Places, Pastiche ||=====| http://www.cottysnaps.com _____________________________ * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
