For my purposes, fine with the 1.4, not worth it except in
emergencies with the 2x. YMMV.
With the 2x, the image quality is noticeably worse than with my
100-400, and it's heavier and clumsier. With the 1.4x it's faster
than the 100-400 at 280, image quality is not much different, but it
still is heavier and clumsier.
