I, too, use a non-Canon wide angle on a 1D - but not a Ds, a 1DmarkII.
It's a Pentax K15mm 3.5 dating back from the 1970's and I use it almost
exclusively for landscapes. I'd love to try it out on a 'full-frame'
Canon and I'm hoping to pick up the 1D incumbent in a couple of years.
After nearly 30 years as a staff news cameraman, I've had to turn self-
employed and set up my own business, which puts the stills on hold for a
while as broadcast gear is an order of magnitude more expensive...
