I concur... mailman is the way to go. Were I to be taken up on my
hosting offer, mailman is what I would have done. I've run several other
lists on mailman without these sorts of complaints.

Majordomo is a pain.

I meant to say that "mailman" is a modern and supported listserve that
is free just before the part about it not being hard to set up.
